A visiting delegation from the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) held a seminar in Madrid on May 16 under the theme "Female Public Welfare: Boosting the Belt and Road".
The event was co-sponsored by the government of the Community of Madrid and the Spain Association of Women Entrepreneurs (SAWE) with the assistance of Fortune Character, a luxury consumption research agency based in China; Spain National Tourism and Culture Administration (SNTCA); and, Spain Global Group.
The 2017 She Power Boosting the Belt and Road International Seminar was timed coincide with the two-day Belt and Road International Forum in Beijing. It aimed to make an active response to President Xi Jinping's major initiative, build platforms for promoting women's public welfare, draw on the experiences and management models of charity organizations of affected countries, and promote pragmatic cooperation in women's exchange.
During the seminar, non-profit social welfare organizations and charitable entrepreneurs shared their experience in the field of charity and expounded their contributions to the Belt and Road Initiative.
Attendees also carried out in-depth discussions centering on the topic of "Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Female Leadership Promoting the Belt and Road".
Hu Jinxia, assistant to general-secretary of the CWDF, delivered a keynote speech titled "Women's Public Welfare Organizations Boosting The Belt and Road Construction". She introduced the CWDF's charity projects concerning women's empowerment, poverty reduction, entrepreneurship, educational assistance and women's health, among other issues.
Over 100 people took part in the event.
The government of the Community of Madrid also held a press conference for the delegation at the city hall.
The head of the community's Bureau of Culture Promotion, and the head of the SNTCA, met with the delegation, respectively.
On behalf of Cristina Cifuentes, president of the Community of Madrid, officials welcomed the CWDF for holding the seminar in Madrid and said the city's government pledged their support for Belt and Road cooperation between Chinese and Spanish women.
During their visit, the delegation joined an activity held by the Spanish Chinese Women's Association to promote friendship between the two groups at the same time as attending a work seminar with the SAWE.
Later, the visitors departed for Italy to visit the Prada Art Foundation and the Bracco Foundation and learn about the country's long-standing ideas on enterprise, management experience and charities.
