Misunderstanding of Gender Segregation in the Field of Education——Taking Choices of Majors in Higher Education as an Example

Abstract:This paper concerns gender differences in the choice of higher education majors, through the analysis of 15 college students. Choosing majors is a form of rational behavior under circumstance of limited information. Gender segregation problems reveal that gender differences related to this choice is a problem in social structure rather than education. Therefore, gender differences and majors' choice has a more macro social significance, indicating that overall social reform is necessary to solve the problem of gender segregation rather than educational reform.
