Ecology and Autonomy of Women in Leizhou Peninsula, Guangdong Province
Abstract：The Leizhou Peninsula in Xuwen County, Guangdong Province, has 80% of its population in rural, fishing villages. They are the descendants of immigrants who arrived there in the Qing Dynasty. In response to the severe climate, geographic environment, political power and raging robbers, they discarded old customs to adapt to living in Leizhou, forming Leizhou culture. Women worked with men and paid taxes, so they won men's respect. With that, affirmative family appeared at the same time.
