Abstract:The UK’s equal opportunities commission issued "The Gender Equality Duty and Schools- Guidance for Public Authorities in England"in 2007,which provides practical advice on how to implement gender equality at schools. The guidance states that gender equality is beneficial to the all-round development of every child, gender equality should be a priority in school work, and that such equality is an important part of social justice. In turn, operational characteristics suggest the school include "The Gender Equality Duty"into its daily work plan. It implements detailed measures according to the guidance, designs a homemade implementation plan and formulates specific measures to monitor its effect. The guidance says that the government should improve regulatory recognition of gender equality. Besides, the government should improve and establish relevant policies and regulations, alongside a special organization to monitor equality at school. The latter should, in turn, absorb the concept of gender equality into its management system and work plan, while carrying out education on gender equality. On a social level, the media should intensify its promotion on gender equality. Non-governmental organizations, women' federations, and gender research centers should also help the government focus on gender equality.
