Utopia of the Two Sexes
Journal of Foreign Languages 2009-6
Abstract：How to establish the ideal two-sex-relationship is the major concern of the feminist utopias. The American feminist utopian writers during the second wave of feminist movement have explored three types of feminist utopian societies: all-female societies, biological androgyny, and genuinely egalitarian two-sex societies. This essay examines the three gender paradigms in four important feminist utopias, analyzes the active aspects and the limitations of these paradigms, explores their feminist and philosophical implications, and investigates the social and literary significance of the feminist utopian novels.
Keywords：feminist utopia, gender paradigm, second-wave feminism
