Correlation Between Human Body Composition and Blood Lipid Levels Among Female Employees in Suzhou City

Abstract：[Objective] To investigate the correlation between human body composition and blood lipid levels among female employees in Suzhou City. [Methods]555 female employees who have received the blood lipid detection for four indexes and body composition analysis in the Second Hospital Affiliated to Suchow University from June 2014 to October 2014 were enrolled in the study. Body composition was measured by body composition analyzer, including body mass index(BMI), basal metabolic rate(BMR), skeletal muscle(MM), waist to hip ratio(WHR), percentage of body fat(BF%), visceral fat area(VFA), Neck circumference(NC)and other parameters, while the levels of total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)were determined. The correlation between body composition and blood lipid was analyzed. [Results]WHR level of female employees in Suzhou City was higher than the normal value. The levels of body weight, BMI, BF, BF%, VFA, WHR, NC and AMC in high TC group and low HDL-C group were significantly higher than those in the normal group. The levels of body weight, BMI, MM, BF, BF%, BMR, VFA, WHR, NC and AMC in high TG group and high LDL-C group were significantly higher than those in the normal group. The body weight, BMI、BF、BF%、VFA、WHR、NC、AMC were positively correlated with levels of TC, TG and LDL-C, while were negatively correlated with level of HDL-C. MM and BMR were positively correlated with level of TG, while were negatively correlated with level of HDL-C. [Conclusion]The human body composition is closely related to the levels of blood lipid, and has the predictive effect. The analysis on body composition can indirectly predict the dyslipidemia, provide the basis for scientific diet and reasonable exercise, and offer more information for clinical diagnosis and treatment, to early prevent and detect the nutrition related diseases.
