Abstract:The decreased level of estrogen in postmenopausal women contributes to the increase of systemic bone loss. The bone loss of jaw bone, combined with the loss of pericementum and inflammatory response induced by periodontal diseases render postmenopausal women susceptible to periodontal diseases. The periodontal diseases and osteoporosis in the postmenopausal women should be treated sooner to prevent tooth loss.
