Abstract:Based on the perspective of New Institutionalism, in the long traditional Chinese society, gender values as an important part of the Confucian ethics have excluded women from the public political life, and gradually formed a series of formal system such as etiquette, rules and decrees that isolated women and politics. Under the bondage of interest and ideas of male ruling class, the formal and informal institutional arrangements of the gender political relationship have been strengthened in corresponding and blending. Because of the path dependence of the evolution of the system, even if some women "arrogated" public powers, it can not change the essence of existing institutional arrangements of the gender political relationship. Thus those provide us with useful ideas for deeper insights about unequal gender political relationship in China today and exploring solutions for the future.
