Abstract:In Renaissance Italy, male parents played a leading role in their children's marriage affairs, while women effectively had no rights at all in their marriage, even in dowry issues. Most women were not as well educated as men, and their main role was to be a good wife and mother in the family. Although the couple's love had a certain degree of development, the husband still dominated the whole family, which was an important feature of gender relations in marriage during the Renaissance compared with the previous era.
