Andrea specializes in new venture creation and acceleration of social enterprises, product development at the BOP, inclusive business model development and delivery, and cross-sector partnership for development. Andrea has extensive start-up and management experience in various Asian countries including Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
She is currently Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, building UNNC entrepreneurial ecosystem and expanding its entrepreneurship education programs. Prior, she founded FYSE--a regional entrepreneurship and economic development agency--and in partnership with corporate partners implemented incubation and accelerator programs to supported entrepreneurs across ten Asian countries in building and growing new ventures.
Previously to FYSE Andrea worked as Head of Project Management and Outreach for Enterprise Asia, a leading regional think tank for entrepreneurship based in Malaysia. As part of her role she established the organizations presence in Indonesia and China. Prior to Enterprise Asia she worked as Director External Relations for AIESEC based in Hong Kong, managing CSR programs and multi-stakeholder partnerships with organization such as OXFAM, MTR and CLP.
She was awarded the 2012 Women Social Leadership Awards (Leaders in the Workplace Category) and was selected as member of the Global Entrepreneurship Forum in 2011, a prestigious community of individual promoting and supporting entrepreneurship worldwide.
She is a frequent speaker about women economic empowerment and social entrepreneurship, including speaking at four TEDx events across China. She regularly judges at social enterprise competitions including the Sankalp Awards for Social Entrepreneurs and the DBS-NUS Social Venture Challenge Asia.
Andrea holds a Master in East Asian Studies from the University of Bristol, England and is an alumni of INSEAD’s International Social Entrepreneur Program. She holds a black belt in Taekwondo and has been living in China for eight years.
